How Long Do Your Favorite Beauty Products Do Really Last?

Hey Beauties,

I know a lot of you guys collect makeup  or have a lot of beauty products like lotion or nail polish but unfortunately it doesn't last forever. Plus you don't want have breakouts or infections like pink eye, ewwww. Right? Cosmetic companies aren't required to put expiration dates on makeup products but some of them do anyway. Here are some guidelines on how to check if your favorite beauty products have expired. Check it out!

Here are the dates of when you should toss expired makeup:

  •  Mascara:
Shelf life; 2-3 months ( Others say 6 months but it's best to stick with the 3 month rule)
When to toss: As soon as you notice it's getting clumpy or smells weird.

  • Liquid foundation and concealer:
Shelf life: 6-12 months
When to toss: If it has separated into layers or the color has lightened, it's time to buy a new one!

  • Lipstick and lipgloss:
Shelf life: 2 years for lipstick; one year for lipgloss.
When to toss:  If you notice your lipstick has become dry or your gloss is extra sticky, they've probably gone bad!

  • Nail polish:
Shelf life: 1-2 years.
When to toss: If the polish is extra goopy or has separated into layers and won't blend after a quick shake, it's time to let it go.

  • Powder, eyeshadow and blush:
Shelf life: 2 years.
When to toss: They tend to be more flaky and dry than newer products.

  • Fragrances:
Shelf life: 8-10 years.
When to toss: Perfumes that are starting to smell different or lighten in color are definitely expired.

  • Lotion:
Shelf life: 2 years.
When it to toss: A change in color or scent is a dead giveaway for expired lotion.

I hope you guys enjoyed. Until next time, Ciao!
